The first general vaccination point, together with 16 pilot sites, will be open April 19, Prime Minister's Chancellery chief and national vaccine programme coordinator Michał Dworczyk said at a press conference on Tuesday. He explained the government's aim was to carry out 20 million vaccinations by the end of the second quarter of 2021.
The head of PM's office said on Tuesday that over 550,000 people have registered for vaccination since yesterday. "That's good news because after certain slowdown on Easter the registration dynamic is growing and we're glad to see it" - Michał Dworczyk said.
He added that 7,7 million doses have been already administered. "Each week we will push the tempo. This week, we plan to surpass 1 million vaccinations, as we did last week" - said the minister.
The vaccination programme coordinator also informed the goverment planned to carry out 20 million vaccinations by the end of the second quarter of 2021.
"As to the first doses, nothing new here, we plan to vaccinate 100 percent of willing people by the end of August" - he said.
Dworczyk also announced that the first general vaccination point would be opened on Monday, April 19, together with 16 pilot vaccination sites. He added that precise details would be announced on Thursday.
The general vaccination point will be set up in places such as schools, culture centres and sport arenas. Furthermore, vaccinations will also be carried out in special tents located near local supermarkets, and in drive-thru points.
Minister Dworczyk also confirmed the first drive-thru vaccination point would be opened on Thursday, April 15.
