Alert: heavy storms expected across Poland
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued an alert on Friday warning against hailstorms across nearly whole of Poland. Storms aren't expected only in the northeastern parts of the country.
Nearly all parts of Poland were warned against hailstorms on Friday. The highest, 3rd degree alert, has been issued in six counties in northern Subcarpathia region. Storms aren't expected only in the northeastern parts of the country.
The 2nd degree alerts have been issued for the following regions: Silesia, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathia and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Moreover, the alerts pertain to parts of West Pomeranian, Greater Poland and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeships, as well Człuchów county in Pomerania.
In those regions, 30-50 mm of rainfall is expected, locally even up to 60 mm, as well wind reaching up to 90 km/h.
The 3rd degree alert pertains to the city of Rzeszów, as well as five nearby counties: Rzeszów, Łańcut, Przeworsk, Leżajsk and Niżańsk. Rainfall there may reach even up to 80 mm.
Already on Friday afternoon there have been reports of flooding, torn roofs and fallen trees. Firefighters have been dispatched over 200 times in the Subcarpathian region.
