Health Ministry has informed about 202 new cases of coronavirus infection and death of one person. Therefore, the overall tally has gone up to 23,987 cases and 1065 deaths.
The Ministry of Health said on Monday (June 1) the number of coronavirus infection cases has gone up to 23,987, with 1065 deaths. At the same time, 11,449 people recovered after contracting coronavirus.
Out of the 202 latest infection cases, 170 occurred in the Silesian Voivodeship, south Poland. "In total, 4,150 miners in Silesia have been infected," the deputy health minister said on Monday. He added, however, that 95 percent of them were showing no symptoms.
Spokesman for Polish Police, Inspector Mariusz Ciarka, said officers inspected over 70,000 people under quarantine, of which about 1000 will have to face consequences for violating the rules.
Education Minister Dariusz Piontkowski said on Monday that schools would be carrying out remote lessons until the end of the school year on June 26. Therefore, students will return to schools no sooner than September.
On May 30, Poland has launched the fourth stage of "unfreezing", that is lifting restrictions imposed due to the epidemic. Next set of restriction is to be lifted on June 6, when up to 150 guests will be allowed at weddings.
More than 6.13 million people have been reported infected with the novel coronavirus globally and 370,316 have died, a Reuters tally shows. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
