Vaccination programme is gaining momentum, the chief of prime minister's office Michał Dworczyk said on Tuesday. He announced a vaccination registration timetable for all adult Poles.
Prime minister's top aide Michał Dworczyk announced on Tuesday a timetable of vaccination registrations. Starting April 26, each day people from two age groups will be able to register.
"By May 9, everyone will have been issued an e-referral, and all will be able to register for second shots" - Dworczyk said.
He added that people aged 30-39, who have already confirmed their willingness to get vaccinated, will be launched on April 28. "That's over 400,000 people."
"On May 4, we will open registration for people aged 18-29" - the minister said and explained 340,000 people were in that group.
PM's office chief also informed 9,006,539 vaccine doses have been administered in Poland so far - 6,699,255 people have received first doses, whereas 2,307,284 have been fully vaccinated.
"Delay in AstraZeneca vaccine deliveries will not affect the vaccination schedule; we've earmarked jabs for second doses" - he added. He also said that if there are enough doses, some vaccination stations would be open also on Sundays.
Health Ministry informed on Tuesday about 9,246 newly confirmed infection cases, and deaths of 601 COVID patients. Since the start of the pandemic in Poland 2,704,571 cases and 62,734 COVID-related deaths have been reported.
"Week-on-week we have a 27-percent drop in infections" - the health ministry spokesperson Wojciech Andrusiewicz said on Tuesday. He added that more and more data indicated the third wave was receding, but stressed that the number of hospital beds and ventilators raised concerns.
He also said that "summer holidays should be the moment when we reach herd immunity".
