Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska is Civic Coalition's candidate for prime minister - the leader of the Civic Platform, Grzegorz Schetyna, announced on Tuesday.
The deadline for submitting candidates for MPs and senators passes on Tuesday (September 3) at midnight.
Kidawa-Błońska for prime minister
The leader of the biggest party of the Civic Coalition, Civic Platform's Grzegorz Schetyna, has announced the coalition's candidate for prime minister.
Schetyna explained that "we need someone who would think about ordinary people and ordinary life problems".
He added that people "want new standards". "Someone who won't waste time on political fight, but would work hard. Someone who won't be focused on other politicians, but on human stories," he said.
"The longer I listened to it, the more I convinced myself that there is only one such person," Schetyna said and announced "with utmost satisfaction" that Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska will be Civic Coalition's candidate for prime minister.
"It's essential to listen to the people, to really listen to them. And Małgorzata, a Varsovian, a successful woman, a mother, she knows how to listen to the people. She pays the same attention to an ambassador in the philharmonic and to a clerk in local store. In both cases she can establish a warm and friendly relation," Schetyna said.
According to Schetyna, Kidawa-Błońska "understands life, knows the needs of Polish families, she was a great Marshal of the Sejm".
Wrocław and Warsaw - change of leaders
Kidawa-Błońska and Schetyna switched the number places on the election lists: she will now be "number one" in Warsaw, whereas he - in Wrocław.
Kidawa-Błońska said that it had been a "very tough decision" for her to accept the proposal.
"We're facing a great challenge, because we will win this election. We must win," she said.
She underscored that the Civic Coalition's activists have spoken with many people. "We've travelled across Poland and we really know what people want. They want politicians who would understand them as people, their dreams, needs, desires. They want politicians who would see the whole spectrum of their achievements, and only their ID number," Kidawa Błońska said.
"I dream about Poland as a country where people smile to each other in the streets, help each other in need," she added.
"If we restore the importance of words like honour, honesty, responsibility, tolerance and respect for others, if we awake all this in ourselves, then we will win this election. The Poles expect us to do so," she stressed.
"We will win in October, there's no other option," Schetyna said and once again reassured that "what's been given, won't be taken away". He added that "this is Civic Coalition's cast-iron pledge".
