Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, on Friday confirmed her will to run for president in 2020 election. She added that she understood and accepted Donald Tusk's decision not to run for presidency.
Civic Coalition board announced on Friday afternoon that their presidential candidate would be chosen through internal vote. The candidate is to be announced on December 14, after he or she have been accepted by the National Convention of the party. Also on that day, the procedure of choosing a new leader of Civic Plarform.
Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska on Friday confirmed her will to run for the country's top office. "Yes," was her reply to a question whether she stood by her earlier declaration regarding her bid for presidency.
She added at the same time that she understood and accepted Donald Tusk's decision not to run for presidency. "We getting to work and we will win this election," Kidawa-Błońska said.
After the decision about internal vote within Civic Coalition would be held was made, Kidawa-Błońska said that she was glad that they had this step behind them.
"I'm not afraid of other candidates, a party having different candidates and based on internal debate, is a strong party," she added.
Kidawa-Błońska was Deputy Marshal of the Sejm in the ending term, and on Friday, the board of Civic Platform recommended that she should remain as the deputy speaker of the lower house.
Furthermore, it was decided that Borys Budka would be the party's candidate to become chairman of the Civic Coalition's parliamentary club.
