I'm an advocate of a broad coalition for the parliamentary elections, consistent in its programme and even stronger than in the European elections - the leader of Civic Platform (PO) Grzegorz Schetyna said on Tuesday in Kruszyna near Włocławek, He informed that in the end of June he is set to meet with the chairman of the Polish People's Party (PSL).
Schetyna met with the residents of village borough of Włocławek.
"I'm an advocate of a broad coalition for the parliamentary elections, consistent in its programme, effective and even stronger than in the European elections. It all takes time. We must move step by step towards unification of our standpoints, core programme issues, as well as good lists. I'm trying to convince everyone that we need local politicians," Schetyna said at a press conference.
The PO leader stressed that along with the coalition forming, a scenario for future activities and a programme convention are being discussed. The latter has been already scheduled for the middle of July. He added that he has a meeting with the PSL chairman Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz scheduled for the end of June.
"Any election process requires people casting their votes. We need involvement that would spark all what's best - activism, mobilisation, positive emotions. This is what Polish politics and Polish reality need. I'm sure it's going to be that way," he said.
Schetyna underscored that such meeting like the one in Kruszyna serve the need for mobilisation, as well as help to understand what local Poland really needs.
"We want to talk about what's important for local Poland. We will discuss health service, investment in roads and infrastructure, local schools and how they are coing with minister Zalewska's education "deform". Finally, we want to discuss the national programme for country development, about subsidies for farmers and the importance of the next EU budget that will be adopted at the end of the year. The European budget is important for Poland as a whole, but it must also be dedicated to local Poland, to counties and boroughs," Schetyna said.
The PO leader underscored that no other voivodeship spends EU funds so effectively as the Kuyavian-Pomeranian does. "I'm delighted that Marshal (of the voivodeship) Piotr Całbecki has been doing this effectively and relentlessly for so many years," he added.
"The reality after October will bring along new challenges that we will have to face," Schetyna said.
