The chief of the State Protection Service (SOP) General Brigadier Tomasz Miłkowski has handed in his resignation from the position. The Minister of Interior and Administration Joachim Brudziński has accepted his resignation, tvn24.pl portal learned on Tuesday.
According to the communiqué issued by the ministry’s press office, the resignation of General Miłkowski took place following prior consultation with minister Brudziński.
New chief of the State Protection Service will be appointed at the request of the interior minister, by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
First chief of the SOP
The State Protection Service (SOP) was formed on the 1st of February 2018 and replaced the no-longer existing Government Protection Bureau (BOR). The institution reports to the minister of the interior and administration. General Tomasz Miłkowski was the first ever head of the SOP and before that, since 2017, he was the chief of BOR.
