There will be a second round of the mayoral race in Kraków. The first round on Sunday was won by incumbent Jacek Majchrowski (Civic Kraków Committee) who received 43,7 percent of votes. The United Right's candidate, Małgorzata Wassermann came in second with 33,6 percent, according to IPSOS exit poll.
Third place was taken by Łukasz Gibała, former Civic Platform and Palikot Movement's MP who received 16,8 percent.
Further down the list there were: Konrad Berkowicz - 2,8 percent, Daria Gosek-Popiołek - 2 percent, Jolanta Gajęcka - 1,1 percent.
Jacek Majchrowski thanked all his supporters. "It also proves that people see me exactly as I presented myself: I'm someone who wants to work with everyone, regardless of their preferences," he said.
Majchrowski also said that he hopes for a high turnout in the second round of elections. "It's very important as Kraków's future is at stake here, and we want it to be like most of other cities," he said.
Małgorzata Wassermann, the United Right's candidate who received 33,6 percent of votes.
"Let's stand united in the second round and we shall win Kraków," she called upon those who voted for candidates who didn't make it to the next round.
Wassermann added that she believes Kraków can be free of smog, traffic jams and property developers' rule. "I do believe that in the next two weeks we will work hard and you'll see us celebrating here after a fortnight," she said.
