Exit poll: Jacek Jaśkowiak secures Poznań mayorship for another term

The incumbent Mayor of Poznań Jacek Jaśkowiak, backed by the Civic Coalition has secured himself another term in office after receiving 56,6 percent of votes, according to IPSOS exit polls.

After exit polls were announced on Sunday evening, Jaśkowiak said "today we celebrate, but from tomorrow on, it's hard work".

"First of all I'd like to thank my collegues from the city council, who during last four years have been changing Poznań with me and my deputies. They have been changing Poznań into an open and tolerant city, a city everyone can feel good in," said Jaśkowiak.

"These are only initial results; let's wait for those official ones. Should the final result look like exit polls, on the one hand, it will make me happy because it's a very strong support, but on the other, it means even more obligation towards the residents of Poznań," he underscored.

Mayor Jaśkowiak's main rival, Tadeusz Zysk backed by the United Right coalition said after results were revealed: "We've got the second result and yet it's unsatisfactory. It would be a rare thing to beat the mayor in the first round. We have hoped so, but it didn't happen. I wish for the mayor to deliver all of his promises. I hand myself at the disposal of Poznań residents".
