The highest number of Tuesday's 7,937 infections were recorded in the Masovian province, where 1,279 cases were reported.

The ministry also informed about the death of 216 coronavirus-infected persons. 62 of those person died directly due to COVID-19, whereas 154 had co-occurring medical conditions.

In total, since the start of the pandemic, Poland has confirmed 1,719,708 infections and 44,008 COVID-related deaths.

According to the ministry, in the last 24 hours, 50,212 coronavirus tests were performed, including 19,307 antigen tests.

Furthermore, as of Tuesday, March 2:

- 15,400 of 26,241 available COVID-19 hospital beds were occupied

- 1,540 of 2,586 ventilators were in use

- 192,491 people were placed in quarantine

- 1,438,032 people recovered from COVID-19
