Chinese telecoms firm Huawei is ready to work with the Polish government on additional steps to build trust, Andy Purdy, chief security officer at Huawei Technologies USA, said on Wednesday.
Poland's government is considering excluding Huawei equipment from its future 5G network over concerns first raised in the United States that Huawei technology could be equipped with back doors, sources told Reuters in January.
This week U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cautioned allies against using equipment from Huawei, saying it would make it more difficult for Washington to "partner alongside them".
In January Poland arrested a Chinese employee of Huawei and a former Polish security official on spying allegations.
Chinese telecoms firm Huawei sees a risk of getting exluded from the 5G network construction in Central and Eastern Europe, but is ready to work on the measures introduced that would let the company compete in the market, Andy Purdy, Chief Security Officer at Huawei Technologies USA, said on Wednesday (February 13).
Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cautioned allies against using equipment from Huawei, saying it would make it more difficult for Washington to "partner alongside them".
Pompeo is visiting Central and Eastern Europe this week. Vice President Mike Pence joins him in Poland where both will attend Mideast Peace conference due to start on Wednesday evening.
"Certainly, the visit by Secretary Pompeo and Vice President Pence into Poland and other countries reflects a real effort to strongly encourage countries to not carry our products...," said Purdy adding that the company was ready to work with governments on additional measures, such as testing the source codes for the products, that should then be applied to all vendors.

"If the government decides to ban us from 5G we will continue to take along view of the potential sales of our products in Poland over time," said Purdy.
"We hope and expect that the requirements for companies that do sale on the 5G in Poland will become clearer and will become stronger ... And we believe that some day in the future we'll be allowed to compete for that business if we're not allowed to compete for it now," he added.
