Poland's President Andrzej Duda had a phone conversation on Wednesday with U.S. President Joe Biden, the Chancellery of the President of Poland informed. Among the topics discussed, the chancellery said, was the upcoming summit of the Bucharest Nine format, NATO summit in Madrid, as well as issues related with Ukraine. "Also discussed were ways to increase Poland's security, as well as Polish-American cooperation in the fields of security and economy," President Duda's office added.
The Chancellery of the President of Poland informed around 6 p.m. Polish time that the phone call between Andrzej Duda and Joe Biden had come to an end.
Among the topics discussed by the two presidents was the upcoming summit of the Bucharest Nine, NATO summit in Madrid, as well as issued related to the situation in Ukraine.
The Bucharest Nine (B9) was launched on a joint initiative of Poland and Romania. The format is composed of countries located on the NATO eastern border: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
"Also discussed were ways to increase Poland's security, as well as Polish-American cooperation in the fields of security and economy," Presidents of Poland and the USA have have scheduled further talks," the chancellery added.
President Duda set out for Portugal on Wednesday evening to start his trip around southern Europe. The main goal of the planned visits is to lobby in favour of granting Ukraine the status of European Union candidate state as soon as possible.
