The Government Centre for Security (RCB) on Friday issued an alert as strong wind and hailstorms are expected in the following provinces: Masovian, Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian and Łódź, as well as a number of counties in Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lower Silesian and Greater Poland.
"Warning! Today (July 10) and at night strong wind and hailstorms are expected. Seek shelter during the storm. Make sure to keep your belongings safe from the wind," the RCB wrote in a tweet.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) on Friday issued a second-degree alert.
The alert was issued for people living in the following provinces: Masovian, Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian and Łódź, as well as in a number of counties in Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lower Silesian and Greater Poland.
Forecasters said that the said regions can expect moderate rainfall, up to heavy in some places. The level of rainfall should amount to 30mm, and locally even up to 40mm. The rain is likely to be accompanied by storms with wind reaching speeds up to 100km/h, and locally even up to 110km/h. Hailstorms are also expected to occur.
The second-degree alert means that the occurring weather conditions may cause heavy damage and/or life-threatening disasters.
The IMGW urges to follow all orders and recommendations issued by security services in dangerous situations. It is also advised to adapt one's plans to the weather conditions.
