"Civic Platform has withdrawn its support for Kazimierz Michał Ujazdowski as candidate for the mayor of Wrocław," the party's leader Grzegorz Schetyna has informed. He announced that a joint candidate will be chosen by their coalition partner, Modern Party.
Mr Schetyna said that Civic Coalition will select joint candidates for presidents of eight cities in Dolnośląskie voivodeship.
The Modern Party will pick candidates for mayors of three cities: Świdnica, Lubin, Wrocław.
Civic Platform will choose candidates for mayors of Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra, Bolesławiec, Legnica and Głogów.
"Civic Coalition is our strategic project, a crucial project in the course of uniting the opposition," added Schetyna.
He also said that it was a very difficult decision for both Civic Platform and Modern Party, however, it had to be taken for the "greater good" - chance for Civic Coalition to run in the whole region.
Modern Party leader, Katarzyna Lubnauer said the Civic Coalition is restoring order in parliamentary opposition, "just like United Right once did on the right side of the political scene".
She added: "last week Law and Justice conquered the Supreme Court and changed the electoral law organizing the European vote, so that it benefits one them. Therefore, "it's now essential for us to show that we can communicate and choose the best solutions for the Poles".
"I will make my own, independent decision regarding the local elections and announce it after 8 August," Kazimierz Michał Ujazdowski wrote on Twitter.
