"Superwizjer" TVN journalists scooped prestigious European awards. Jakub Stachowiak and Patryk Szczepaniak received statuettes at the World Media Festival gala in Hamburg for their report "Black amber market" revealing smuggling and illegal amber trade. The international jury also credited tvn24.pl Szymon Jadczak for his acclaimed report for "Superwizjer" entitled: "Football and gangsters". Also mentioned was "Breast ironing" documentary by TVN Style.
Television & Corporate Media Awards honour and celebrate outstanding television and corporate media solutions on an international scale including audiovisual, print and online productions from areas such as information, education and entertainment with emphasis on on how effectively the specified target group is being addressed.
Among this year's winners were "Superwizjer" TVN jounalists Jakub Stachowiak and Patryk Szczepanik. In their report "Black amber market" they investigated illegal extraction of hundreds of tonnes of amber which then mostly enters Polish market. The authors of the report followed the amber smuggling trail and closely examined the business worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
Also awarded was the report "Football and gangsters" by Szymon Jadczak from tvn24.pl portal made for "Superwizjer". Jadczak revealed how football hooligans and gangsters took control of Wisła Kraków football club.
In the Human Rights category, "Breast ironing" documentary by TVN Style was also awarded. It tells about a horryfying tradition of breast ironing still practiced on young girls in Cameroon. Journalist Anna Kalczyńska visited this African country and spoke with female victims of this practice.
