Former mineral water bar of Konstancin Sanatorium, located on Puławska Street in Warsaw district of Mokotów, has been made available for rent. The future tenant will be bound to expose the mosaic compositions that have been adding beauty to the interior for more than 50 years now.
Warsaw Historic Preservation Office informs in a statement the Konstancin Sanatorium mineral water bar at 51 Puławska Street was built in the 1960s. The building is unique for its interior decorated with mosaic compositions. This kind of ornamentation was widely used at the time.
It is rarely used nowadays. The composition inside the former water bar is said to have been created by Krzysztof Henisz - a painter, draughtsman, book illustrator and ceramist. It was made with ceramic tiles and raw pebble stones.
"The abstract composition on the walls may be reminiscent of a beach and the sun. Furthermore, inside there's a structural beam covered with a gleaming mosaic, which originally used to be part of the outside arcade. As a glass storefront has been installed, there's more space inside, and the massive beam decorated with navy-tone mosaic now livens up the interior," the preservations office says.
Currently the vacant premises are managed by Mokotów district real estate management office and has been made available for rent. Warsaw historic preservation officer issued an opinion regarding the function as well conservation and restoration work that needs to done inside. The future tenant will have to arrange the interior so that the mosaics are exposed and keep their ornamental function.
