Some children from Ukraine in need of medical help are being transferred to the Children's Memorial Health Institute (CZD) in Warsaw. The spokesperson of the facility has called for help in providing necessary items for the mothers of the children treated at the hospital.
Many of the mothers of the children treated at the Children's Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw have fled from war only with a single backpack. The hospital spokesperson, Katarzyna Gardzińska, told TVN24 reporter Małgorzata Telmińska exactly what sort of help is needed.
All help is very welcome
"Without the help from foundations or individuals, we wouldn't have been able to help those mothers who often come here holding their children in their hands, often with just a single backpack, usually filled with diapers or some food for the baby only. That's why we are trying to provide mothers with the most basic necessities. We call them starter packages - each includes a towel, a pillow, a blanket, dry food products - coffee, tea, instant soups, as well as cosmetics such as shampoos, shower gels, toothbrushes," Gardzińska listed.
The hospital spokesperson also called for help in organising these basic necessities for the mothers of the children at the facility. "Any help, even the smallest one, is very welcome," Gardzińska stressed.
She added that children staying at the hospital also needed clothes, toothbrushes and shower gels. "Bedding and food for children are provided by the hospital," she said.
More than 360 people from Ukraine in Warsaw hospitals
According to Warsaw City Hall spokesperson Monika Beuth-Lutyk, 363 patients from Ukraine have so far been admitted to Warsaw hospitals. Twelve children have been born. Medical points organised at Warsaw East and Warsaw West railway stations have provided assistance to 1,547 persons. Furthermore, according to Beuth-Lutyk, more refugees require hospitalisation, as more people flee from Ukraine to Poland in much worse physical and psychological state.
