A burst heating pipe disrupted traffic and caused clouds of steam to engulf a stretch over the Polish capital, Warsaw on Wednesday morning.
Eyewitness video posted on social media and verified by a Reuters journalist shows steam engulfing a street and cars stopped by police near Bernadyński square in Warsaw.
Nearly 200 vehicles, including seven buses, have been trapped in a 600-metre-long hot water "pool", the Mazovian State Fire Service wrote on their Twitter account.
Two people were injured in the incident.
The Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski said that intensive works were being carried out to fix the problem.
"At the moment we know that there was a leaking pipe. Exact causes are being determined at the scene," said Veolia spokesperson Aleksandra Żurada.
