Mayors of Warsaw and Prague, Rafał Trzaskowski and Zdenek Hrib, went to Kiev to meet with the city's mayor Vitali Klitschko. "They are showing their solidarity with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian nation. They are declaring support on our road to the European family," Klitschko said after the meeting. "We are here also to show our readiness to help. If anything happens, both Warsaw and Prague are ready to provide this help," Trzaskowski said.
"In this difficult situation we are very grateful to our partners, European countries, especially those which support Ukraine politically, morally, in all directions, in various areas, (...), stability of political and economical situation in the whole European region depends on stability of the political and economical situation in Ukraine," Mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko said after the meeting with his counterparts from Warsaw and Prague.
He stressed that "it's very important that we display our unity today", adding that "it is a very important signal that in this very moment our European partners come and visit". "They are showing their solidarity with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian nation. They are declaring support on our road to the European family," Klitschko said.
Klitschko: Ukrainians never wanted war
Asked about Russian Defence Ministry information regarding pulling back some of the troops back to barracks, Kiev mayor said that "if it's true, then it is a good sign". "But we must not be easing up, as those may be another manoeuvres," he added.
"The Ukrainians never wanted a war to start. While the Russians have wanted it recently. I hope that this conflict will be resolver in a peaceful, diplomatic way, but it's still to early to relax," Klitschko stressed.

"Crucial things is that we're here to demonstrate our solidarity with Kiev and the Ukrainian nation (...) We want to show that in this difficult hour, we are standing together with the mayor of Kiev," Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski said. "We've asked Kiev to join the Pact of Free Cities," he added.
"We are here also to show our readiness to help. If anything happens, both Warsaw and Prague are ready to provide this help," he underscored.
"In Poland, we are coordinating our efforts undertaken with our local governments, so that we are able to help local authorities in the east of Poland, should the situation turn worse, if there is danger, but at the same time we are asking Vitaly what we else we could do when any troubles emerge," Trzaskowski added.
"We can see that the city is functioning as usual. That it is in capable and strong hands, which gives plenty of hope for the future that nothing's going to happen," Warsaw mayor said.
Hrib: Prague ready to help Kiev
"The city of Prague has declared its support and solidarity with Kiev in the face of this extremely difficult situation of direct threat posed by Russia against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people," Mayor of Prague Zdenek Hrib said.
"Just as my colleague Rafał said earlier on, we are ready to help Kiev and its residents in the time of need. We shall keep contact, we will be watching how the situation is developing," he added.
