We've received a proposal from the American side to hold a meeting between presidents Donald Trump and Andrzej Duda on Monday in New York - the head of the President's Chancellery, Krzysztof Szczerski, informed on Thrusday. He added he would be able to confirm the invitation on Friday.
Andrzej Duda is set to visit the United States between September 21 and 26. Among other things, he plans to take part in the session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Szczerski said that on Monday there will be some time before the debate of world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly.
The chief of President's Chancellery added that "it's the first possible date for the presidential meeting after September 1". "It's a good signal which shows that our partners want the presidents to meet as soon as possible," the minister convinced.
He stressed that "President Duda is determined to make this meeting concrete and conclusive".
"We will work to make sure the declaration regarding the increase of U.S. troops in Poland is signed during the meeting, the one that was ready to be signed during the President Trump's unrealized visit to Warsaw," Szczerski said.
He also announced that he would be ready to confirm whether the meeting will happen or not.
Wojciech Kolarski from the President's Chancellery told TVN24 that "one of the goals of this visit taking part in the United Nations General Assembly session in New York".
"Minister Szczerski is in contact with our American partners and is working to make sure the deal, that was supposed be signed on September 1, is concluded during this meeting," Kolarski added.
