U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated Donald Tusk on his election to the office of Prime Minister of Poland - PM's chancellery said on the X social media platform on Wednesday (Dec.20), attaching a photo of a letter to Tusk from Biden.
The chancellery of Poland's new prime minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday published a post on the X platform, in which it said: "U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated Donald Tusk on his election to the office of Prime Minister of Poland".
"Poland and the United States will act together to ensure energy and military security, and to strengthen democratic values" - Tusk's office added.
The chancellery also published a photo of the letter from the U.S. president.

"Congratulations on your election as prime minister. The historic turnout for the October 2023 parliamentary elections gives you and your cabinet an important at an important time. I look forward to working with you to show that democracies can deliver on the challenges that matter most to our peoples' lives," President Joe Biden wrote.
"Poland is one of the United States’ closest security partners and most steadfast allies. Your country’s contributions to allied security on NATO’s eastern flank, your hosting of U.S. troops, and your commitment to exceed NATO defense spending goals are exemplary. I look forward to partnering with you to accomplish your military modernization goals and further strengthen the NATO alliance," the U.S. leader stressed.
Biden also said the U.S. valued its "strategic partnership with Poland on energy security". "We are proud that Poland selected the United States as its partner for its first nuclear power plant and look forward to fully implementing our agreements in this sector and deepening our energy partnership. Civil nuclear energy cooperation serves as a pillar of our economic ties and demonstrates our shared commitment to bolstering European energy security and addressing the climate crisis."
"I look forward to our continued close cooperation on Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity against Russia’s brutal onslaught. We remain grateful for Poland’s provision and facilitation of security assistance to Ukraine as well as the generosity shown by Polish families who opened up their hearts and homes to more than one million Ukrainian refugees. I saw this resolve and generosity firsthand during my trips to Warsaw. I assure you that the United States will continue to stand with Poland and push back against the encroachment of authoritarianism in Europe," we read.
"Again, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for your every success in your service to all the people of Poland. I am confident that together we will advance our shared prosperity, security, and democratic values," Joe Biden concluded.
