United States Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski visited Jasna Góra Monastery on Friday (July 22). "To be here in person is so spiritually moving, personally moving, and I feel like I'm almost channeling with my late father Zbigniew Brzezinski when I'm here," the ambassador said. He also thanked Poles for all the help and support they have been offering refugees from Ukraine.
Ambassador Mark Brzezinski visited Częstochowa on Friday and at noon he arrived at Jasna Góra, where he was greeted by the monastery prior Father Samuel Pacholski.
"I'm just very moved to be here. Częstochowa, the Black Madonna - these were words talked about in the Brzezinski household, a Polish-American household, from when I was a little child, and my brother and sister were little children as well, the ambassador said.
He also said that Jasna Góra had been an important place to his father.
"So to be here in person is so spiritually moving, personally moving, and I feel like I'm almost channeling with my late father Zbigniew Brzezinski when I'm here," Mark Brzezinski added.
The ambassador also said that although he had been to Poland 30 years ago, it was his first time in Jasna Góra Monastery.
Brzezinski: Poles did something worthy of Nobel Peace Prize
Mark Brzezinski also spoke about Poland's help for Ukraine. "Po pierwsze dziękuję (First of all, thank you), the ambassador said in Polish. Switching back to English, he added that his words came not only from him, but also from U.S. President Joe Biden.
"We are grateful for the help the people of Poland are giving to the people of Ukraine. America stands in solidarity with Poland," he said.
He also said that "for the first time in history a mass movement of refugees has moved across the border from one country to another, and every one of them has been welcomed, and every one of them has been put into somebody's home". "That's never happened before in history," Brzezinski added.
"And so we thank the Poles for doing something that is worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize for my opinion," the U.S. ambassador stressed.
