Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy sent Poland his best wishes on the country's Independence Day. "Ukrainians will remember the way you have welcomed and helped us. Your country is our sister," he said in a video in Polish.
"Dear Poland, your regained independence turns 104 today and these are my 104 words for you," Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in Polish in a special video he recorded for Poland's Independence Day.
He stressed that Ukraine and Poland were standing together. "You are our sister. We had better and worse times, but we are relatives, we are free," Ukrainian president said.
"When we our regained independence turned 30, Poland stood by us. I remember our happiness, we rejoiced together. When we faced our old and common enemy, Poland stood by us. Ukrainians will always remember that," Zelenskiy assured.
"They will remember how you have welcomed us, how you are helping us. Your people are our allies. Your country is our sister. Your friendship forever. Our friendship forever. Our love forever. Together we shall prevail," Ukraine's president said.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal extended his best wishes for Poland in a tweet. In a short video marking the occasion, Shmyhal spoke in Polish.
"On behalf of the Ukrainian Government and myself I wish all the best and peace to the Polish Nation on the occasion of Poland's Independence Day! You have won your freedom and independence thanks to heroism and sacrifice of many generations. Today you are supporting us. Thank you Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki!" - Ukrainian PM wrote on Twitter.
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska said on Twitter that "Polish people support Ukrainians as true friends, allies and family". "And we are extremely grateful for that. Thank you for incredible help and hospitality," she added.
"Congratulations on the Independence Day, Poland! Our reliable friendly shoulder will always be there when you need it," Zelenska wrote and attached a special video thanking Poland for helping Ukrainian refugees.
