At a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the Minister of Interior Affairs and Administration Joachim Brudziński, Polish police were issued two brand new S-70i Black Hawk helicopters. Never before was the police given new helicopters, the prime minister underscored.
"Never before was the police given new helicopters. Usually, the force was equipped with helicopters, choppers that were earlier used by other formations, mainly by the army," PM Morawiecki said at a ceremony on Warsaw's Bemowo airport.
The helicopters are to be used, among others, by the anti-terrorist units that need such equipment for rapid landing operations, evacuation and swift moving around the country.
At the moment, Polish police has 11 helicopters at its disposal, the oldest being 47 years old. The agreement regarding the purchase of the two machines was signed in May. In mid-November, a deal for the third S-70i Black Hawk for Polish police was sealed.
