The NSZZ "Solidarność" spokesperson Marek Lewandowski said he "doesn't respect" TVN24's right to inform viewers about the activity of top state officials, and did not let a TVN24 reporter inside a meeting with President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He did, however, allow the state-controlled TV reporters into the event.
The 31st National Convention of Delegates of NSSZ "Solidarność" was organized on Thursday (Oct. 19) in Spała, central Poland. Among the honorable guests were Poland's President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarność" is the largest trade union in Poland with wide-ranging expertise. It was founded as a result of worker protests and established on the basis of the Gdańsk Accords signed on 31st August 1980 by the Inter-Enterprise Strike Committee and the Government Commission.
TVN24 reporter not let in
TVN24 reporter Katarzyna Pasikowska-Poczopko and her camera operator wanted to go inside the hall to listen to the speeches. At the door, they were stopped by the NSZZ "Solidarność" spokesperson Marek Lewandowski.
"Unfortunately, you can't go in. We've made the satellite signal available to all stations. There's no such... We've made sure you have the signal for free, just like other stations do," Lewandowski told our crew.
Our reporter pointed out that the state-controlled TV reporters were entering the hall. "So, it means that reporters from one station can come inside? That's not equal treatment," she said.
The spokesperson said: "They are from Info (TVP Info - edit.). Info is covering the whole convention for us".
The reporter stressed that TVN24 "has the right to show its viewers how organs of state power carry out their duties".
"And we don't respect this right. Thank you kindly," Lewandowski replied.
