President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that he will appear in court to testify as witness on Monday. Asked if he is afraid of a possible arrest, Mr Tusk said that it’s not his custom to complain on his fate.
„I’ve been subpoenaed by the court to testify as a witness, and just like any other citizen I’m bound to do so. Nothing special”, said Donald Tusk in Strasburg. Mr Tusk was also asked to comment on the news suggesting that he is afraid of getting arrested in Poland. He confirmed that he is aware of such news. „As a matter of fact, I’ve started my own career working as a journalist, and therefore, I’m heavily disappointed that nowadays, journalism means circulating such absurdities, said Mr Tusk. „Nowadays, Law and Justice is considered a rather revengeful party, not only in Poland, but in Europe. Some recent events justify this opinion but that’s another story. If you ask me, I’m generally optimistic and still quite brave,” he added. Former PM Donald Tusk is due to testify as a witness in the trial of the former chief of the PM’s chancellery Tomasz Arabski and four other officials, regarding the organisation of former President Lech Kaczyński’s visit to Katyn on 10 April 2010.
