President Andrzej Duda has appointed former finance minister Teresa Czerwińska a board member of the National Bank of Poland - president's spokesperson Błażej Spychalski told Polish Press Agency on Tuesday.
"On a request of the chairman of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday appointed Teresa Czerwińska a board member of the NBP," said the president's spokesperson.
Until today, Czerwińska was Poland's finance minister but on Tuesday morning was replaced by her deputy and the head of the National Revenue Administration, Marian Banaś. The switch was just one out of a few changes made under the cabinet reshuffle.
The management board of the NBP consists of: the NBP chairman and 6 to 8 board members, including 2 deputies of central bank's chairman. The board members are appointed and called off by the president on the request of the NBP chairman.
Currently the NBP board consists of the following members: chairman Adam Glapiński, vice chairman and first deputy of the chairman Piotr Wiesiołek, vice chairwoman Anna Trzecińska, Andrzej Kaźmierczak, Ryszard Kokoszczyński, Paweł Samecki, Paweł Szałamacha and Teresa Czerwińska.
The newly appointed deputy PM Jacek Sasin said earlier on Tuesday that Czerwińska would "take up another, important state position" and that now former finance minister "has completed the task of finding or determining sources for financing" projects presented before the elections.
"This operation is finished because these sources are mentioned in this year's budget, so the money to deliver all of our promises made in the last few months are secured" - he stressed. He added that public finances are in "excellent condition" at the moment.
Asked if Czerwińska left the cabinet on her own request, Sasin said that "as far as he knows, yes".
