55 percent of Poles think that the new President of the Supreme Audit Office, Marian Banaś, should resign from office - according to the latest phone survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. The opposite opinion was expressed by 19 percent of respondents.
In recent days, "Superwizjer" TVN journalists revealed information regarding potential irregularities in Marian Banaś' asset declaration. In the phone survey carried out by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 on September 25-26, respondents were asked if, in their opinion, the President of the Supreme Audit Office, Marian Banaś, should resign from office.
In total, 55 percent of those asked said that Marian Banaś should step down. 34 percent answered "definitely yes" and 21 percent "rather yes".
The opinion that Banaś should not resign was shared by 19 percent of respondents, of which 8 percent said "definitely no" and 11 percent "rather not".
Over one quarter of respondents (26 percent) picked the answer "Don't know/Hard to say".
Reporter from "Superwizjer" TVN, Bertold Kittel, has examined the asset declation of the former finance minister and deputy minister, Marian Banaś, who was appointed the chief of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) on August 30.
Marian Banaś has been appointed as the chief of NIK despite his asset declaration being under scrutiny of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Banaś announced that he would take an unpaid leave until the examination of his assets have been completed.
