According to Poland's Central Statistical Office (Statistics Poland), the average monthly salary in October 2022 increased by 13% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. Economists expected a 14-percent increase.
"Average gross wages and salaries in the enterprise sector in October 2022 compared to October 2021 were higher by 13.0% y/y and amounted to 6687.75 PLN. In regard to September 2022 average gross wages remained at a similar level," Statistics Poland said in a press release on Tuesday.
Last month, Statistics Poland informed that the average monthly wage in September 2022 was 6687.81 zlotys.
"In October 2022, average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared to October 2021 was higher by 2.4% y/y and amounted to 6500.9 thousand full-time equivalents. In comparison to the previous month average paid employment increased minimally (by 0.1%)" Statistics Poland added.
"Due to the epidemic situation and its impact on the labour market, in 2020 there were significant decreases in average paid employment in the enterprise sector. The following year, average paid employment fluctuated slightly, but it was only in 2022 that it returned to the values noted at the beginning of 2020. In October 2022, compared to September 2022, the average paid employment increased by approx. 7 thousand full-time equivalent" - the press release said.
