So far, Ryszard Legutko was at the helm of Law and Justice's (PiS) delegation to the European Parliament and we may expect that he will continue in his role, however formal decisions will be taken next week - PiS MEP Ryszard Czarnecki told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
In Sunday's EU election in Poland, PiS received 45,38 percent of votes, European Coalition - 38,47 percent, Wiosna - 6,06 percent. As a result PiS secured 27 seats, European Coalition - 22 and Wiosna -3. The newly elected MEPs on Friday received official certificates from the National Electorate Commission confirming their status.
51 Polish MEPs for the 2019-2024 tenure will begin their work in Brussels in a few weeks; The 52nd MEP, Dominik Tarczyński, will join the delegation after Brexit has been formally completed. Czarnecki, who just like Legutko was re-elected as MEP, informed PAP that the head of PiS fraction in the European Parliament will be nominated by the party's Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński. "The decision will be announced next week and will be taken by Jarosław Kaczyński," said PiS MEP. "We may expect continuation in that regard. So far, Ryszard Legutko was at the helm of the delegationa and fraction," the MEP added.
Andrzej Halicki will be the head of Civic Platform - Polish People's Party delegation to the European Parliament.
