Robert Lewandowski has been named Player of the Season of the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season. This is Poland's skipper's first such award. Bayern's star striker came ahead of Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho, Amine Harit, Erling Haaland, Kai Havertz and Serge Gnabry.
"Lewy" has scored 33 times in the German top flight this season with one more game still to go. This the fourth time in five years Bayern Munich powerhouse striker has become the top scorer in the Bundesliga. Although second-best striker, Timo Werner of RB Leipzig, has also one game to improve his tally, it is highly unlikely for him to overcome Lewandowski, as the German forward has scored 26 times so far.
With the prolific Pole scoring against every German club he played this season, Bayern Munich clinched the eight consecutive championship. Experts and fans have acknowledged Lewandowski's brilliant form in a vote at the Bundesliga official website.
"Positioning, strength, and an instinct for goal make Lewandowski a complete striker. This season he has often proven vital for Bayern. In difficult games that were touch and go, Lewandowski always scored at the right moment to fire the record champions closer to their next title. Whether it's with his right foot, left foot or head; a free-kick or penalty, there is simply no keeping Lewandowski at bay," reads the information at bundesliga.com.
