Poland's population is expected to decline by 4 mln by 2060, according to the latest article on demographic trends presented by researchers at the Centre of Migration Research (CMR) at the University of Warsaw.
"As envisaged in other forecasts, it is foreseen that the depopulation of Poland will develop; it can be expected that by 2060 the population of Poland will decrease by approx. 4 million people (10.8 percent).
Nevertheless, the rate of change in the population size will be slower and variable over time, and the population decline will not be as great as announced in other projections," the article read.
According to the final estimates of the size of migratory flows in 2015-2060, by 2030 a change should be expected in Poland's status, from an emigration country (with a negative migration balance) to immigration status (with the population's inflow above its outflow).
This will be the result of an increased inflow of foreigners and the gradual ceasing of emigration from Poland.
