The police detained a 28-year-old resident of Wrocław on Tuesday, who is suspected of brutal attack on a university lecturer and journalist, Przemysław Witkowski. The victim was severely beaten on Thursday, near the Trzebnicki Bridge in Wrocław.
The victim, Przemysław Witkowski, wrote on social media: "that's what happens when you don't like fascist writings on Odra boulevards". OKO.press portal wrote that Witkowski had expressed outrage out loud when he saw homophobic slogans on the wall. "When he got off his bike to fix the wheel, he was attacked by a young man, in his opinion, a member of the so-called szturmowcy organisation. Witkowski ended up with a broken nose," OKO.press informed. Sargeant Krzysztof Marcjan from Wrocław City Police confirmed that after 6 pm there was an incident near the Trzebnicki bridge, but did not reveal the victim's identity. "According to initial findings, the man was beaten. The police are determining the exact course of events and trying to apprehend the perpetrator," he said. He also said that the attacked man was taken to a hospital with facial injuries. The attack on the university lecturer in Wrocław was particularly barbaric. The police in Wrocław published a sketch of a man suspected of attacking Witkowski.
Dariusz rajski from Wrocław City Police told Polish Press Agency (PAP) that the suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Wrocław, was detained by the crime unit officers.
"The man was identified by the victim and now will be taken to the prosecutor's office whe he'll hear charges," Rajski said.
