"I think the visit really impressed him," the British Ambassador to Poland Anna Clunes told TVN24, referring to Prince William's unannounced trip to Poland. "In two days he had a chance to thank the soldiers as well as understand and speak with refugees and volunteers," Clunes added.
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Poland Anna Clunes spoke in TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach" about Prince William's two-day visit to Poland. The heir to the British throne met with British and Polish troops, visited a refugee centre in Warsaw, and spoke with President Andrzej Duda and Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.
Clunes said the Prince came to Poland because "he wanted to understand the situation himself". "He spoke with ordinary people about the hardships they had endured," she said, adding that the royal had spoken face to face with "hundreds of people".
Ambassador Clunes: I think that for him it was a very important visit
The ambassador explained she had assisted the Prince for the duration of his stay. "I think the visit really impressed him," she said.
In her opinion, King Charles III's son "wanted to converse, understand, and thank". "In two days he had a chance to thank the soldiers as well as understand and speak with refugees and volunteers."
"I think that for him it was a very important visit and a symbol of not only his respect for Poland, but also the respect of all people of Great Britain," ambassador Clunes added.
"We simply understand the key role Poland is currently playing"
Anna Clunes also stressed that it was the Prince's first international visit this year and his overall second as heir to the British throne. "We simply understand the key role Poland is currently playing. Both our nations are ... very close to Ukraine, we have the same ambitions, the same level of support for Ukraine," the ambassador added.
