"There is clear disagreement between Law and Justice and Solidarna Polska – the two parties that form the core of the governing coalition – over the conclusions that should be drawn from the President's decision," the President's Chief of Staff Krzysztof Szczerski told the Polish Press Agency. In his opinion, the statement made by the Minister of Justice contradicts what the Chairman of PiS said.
"Either the President will go down in history as a great figure, as one of the leaders of the good change, as a man who contributed to building a strong and fair state in Poland, or we have lost, and the first to lose will be the President," said Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro, commenting on Andrzej Duda's decision to veto two bills on the judiciary branch.
"Finally, this is a choice between greatness and a burlesque. I believe that wisdom, courage and boldness will prevail. Despite enormous pressure, Andrzej Duda will do the right thing," stressed Ziobro.
"After the interview with Minister Ziobro, it would be good if Prime Minister Beata Szydło issued a statement. There is clear disagreement between Law and Justice and Solidarna Polska – the two parties that form the core of the governing coalition – over the conclusions that should be drawn from the President's decision," said Szczerski.
"Ziobro put himself in opposition to Chairman Kaczyński"
He pointed out that in a recent interview for TV Trwam, PiS Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński "talked explicitly about cooperation, needed to restore cohesion and unity to the political axis of the good change. Today, though, Minister Ziobro put himself in opposition to Chairman Kaczyński, heating up emotions, rather than cooling them down," stressed the President's Chief of Staff.
"While Chairman Kaczyński is not Minister Ziobro's boss and cannot influence him, the Prime Minister, as head of the government, can," he stressed. According to him, her statement would settle the differences and restore consistency to the position of the government and the whole political camp. The ruling United Right currently consists of PiS, Solidarna Polska and Polska Razem.
