Many changes are taking place in the Command of the Polish Armed Forces. There will be five new generals and six promotions to higher ranks of generals and admirals. On 15th of August, on Polish Armed Forces Day the President will hand over appointments to the officers. Most of them are currently working in individual commands in the Polish Army.
On 15th of August, on Polish Armed Forces Day the President Andrzej Duda will hand over 11 promotions to the rank of general. There will be five promotions to the rank of brigadier general, five to divisional general and one to vice admiral, the National Security Bureau informed.
Among others, the chief of Territorial Defense Forces (WOT) brigadier general Wiesław Kukuła will receive his second "star".
The President will promote the officers on 15th of August which Polish Armed Forces Day but also marks a battle won in the 1920 war against the Soviets. Andrzej Duda already handed over promotions this year in March, on the National Cursed Soldiers Remembrance Day.
The chief of National Security Bureau Paweł Soloch has said the promotions that will be made on 15 August are a result of a army organisation and command reform which, among other things, extends the role of the General Army Staff and restores its command competencies.
