Under the amendment, free legal assistance will be offered to anyone who needs it, and who declares that they cannot afford it, President Andrzej Duda announced on Monday.
President Duda made the statement before signing an amendment to the law on free legal assistance and legal education.
The head of state explained that the goal of the amendment was to improve access to free legal assistance as, under the current law, "free legal aid was offered to a clearly-defined group of people."
"Free legal aid will not be limited to specific groups of people. It will be granted to anyone, who needs such assistance," President Duda stressed.
