Fifteen restaurants in Poznań prepared 450 meals for people in homelessness crisis who are under the care of the City Family Support and Social Emergency Centre. This was the third edition of "Let's cook some goodness together" charity action.
For the third time in a row Poznań City Hall joined forces with local restaurant owners to provide warm meals for people in homelessness crisis, and organised "Let's cook some goodness together" charity action.
"Christmas is a perfect time for sharing with others, especially in the difficult pandemic time, when mutual help is even more important," said Poznań Mayor Jacek Jaśkowiak.
"Yet again we've been able to cook some goodness by helping local gastronomy and people in need. I'm grateful for this display of kindness and involvement in the initiative," he added.
"Helping is in our blood"
This year, fifteen restaurants took part in the initiative. Each one received a 1,350-zloty subsidy from the city and prepared 30 wholesome meals.
"We're taking part for the second time. At our company, we have helping in our blood. We also have our own charity, so it was clear and obvious that we would be taking part in something like this. We cook classic dishes. Warm-you-up boullion with meatballs, and classic ribs in BBQ sauce with fries and lettuce. We're making 60 such portions," manager of the Whiskey in the Jar restaurant, Maria Adamska-Rzymek, said on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the food was delivered to designated locations, from where it was sent further to the people under the care of the City Family Support and Social Emergency Centre.
"The pandemic served as inspiration for this undertaking, whereas the idea itself came from LUCKYYOU agency which came to us with their project. Together with city institutions and IT.integro, a co-sponsor of the initiative, we organised this action for the third time," says Joanna Żabierek, Poznań City Hall spokesperson.
In total, 450 meals were cooked as part of the action.
