Over a half of respondents in Poland think that the prosecutor's office should investigate the misuse of official flights by former Marshal of the Sejm, Marek Kuchciński - according to a phone survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. The opposite opinion was expressed by 31 percent of those asked.
In the survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 the respondents were asked the following question: "Should the prosecutor's office investigate Marshal Kuchciński's recent flights scandal?".
In total, 59 percent of those asked answered "yes", of which 38 percent said "definitely yes" and 21 percent "rather yes".
The opposite opinion was shared by 31 percent of respondents, of which 16 percent said "rather not" and 15 percent "definitely not".
The answer "don't know/hard to say" was picked by 10 percent of respondents.
Last week, the prosecutor's office denied information published in the media, that an investigation into Marshal Kuchciński's flights had been launched.
Mirosława Chyr from the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw explained that only preliminary proceedings were launched in response to a notification filed by a private person.
The phone survey by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 was carried out between 12 and 13 August, 2019, on a nationwide representative sample of respondents aged 18 or older. The sample involved 1003 people.
Last week, Marek Kuchciński resigned as parliament speaker, adding, however, that he hadn't broken the law.
Former interior minister Elżbieta Witek replaced Kuchciński and became the new Marshal of the Sejm.
