A tram driver from Wrocław saw a duck mom and her ducklings on the tracks and stopped the vehicle to help the waterbirds. "In a joint effort, the MPK (City Transport Company) crew managed to deal with the waddling crowd. The little ones had to be carried off the tracks, as the ducklings have too short legs to make it on their own," the company said.
The situation took place on Saturday, June 4. Around 5 p.m., the driver of a downtown-bound number 70 tram saw ducks walking along the tracks. The man decided to intervene.
"He stopped to prevent the whole bunch from getting underneath the tram. But youth will be youth - tell them not to run away, and they will fan out all over the place," Wrocław MPK said on social media and attached a video showing the whole incident.
They helped the ducks and carried on
The driver called MPK traffic supervisors to the scene and stopped the trams approaching from the opposite direction.
"In a joint effort, the MPK (City Transport Company) crew managed to deal with the waddling crowd. The little ones had to be carried off the tracks, as the ducklings have too short legs to make it on their own. The badling of ducks gladly marched away towards Szczytnicki Park," we read.
After everything went back to normal, the trams continued on their routes.
