The area that is under the high risk of fire comprises mostly western parts of the country: Lubusz voivodeship, south parts of West Pomeranian voivodeship, northern parts of Lower Silesian voivodeship, as well as environs of Hajnówka and Białowieża Forest in the east of Poland.

"In the regions where there's the highest fire hazard, we should be extra careful and vigilant, as well as to pay special attention to any signs of fire or any irresponsible behaviour of others that may cause fire," Trębski said.

He explained that high fire alerts is not synonymous with forest entry bans which are being issued by the chief forester.

Periodic ban on entering forest is implemented by forest district manager when the fire danger rating level is high, if in 5 days in a row the litter humidity measured at 9 a.m. is lower than 10 percent.
