On Wednesday, March 3, an unexploded WWII-era bomb was discovered at a construction site in Wrocław. On Thursday, a bomb disposal team extracted the explosive from the site, took it to a proving ground where it was safely detonated. Moment of the explosion was captured on camera.

The sappers said the found World War II air bomb had weighed 250 kilograms, including 130 kg of explosive material.

Before the operation, the Crisis Management Centre had evacuated all residents within a 500-metre radius. In the vicinity of the site there are mainly residential blocks. It was estimated that between 1,000 to 3,000 people would be evacuated.

The bomb team began extracting the explosive right after receiving confirming that all residents had left their homes. It took them 1 hour to complete their mission at the site.

Shortly after, the bomb was transported to a proving ground, where it was detonated. The moment of the explosion was recorded on camera.

The sappers said after the operation that the bomb had been one of the biggest ever found in the Lower Silesia.
