Law and Justice's parliamentary club has recommended Elżbieta Witek for the Sejm Marshal, Stanisław Karczewski for the Senate Marshal, and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for the chief of the cabinet - the head of the PiS parliamentary club, Ryszard Terlecki, informed on Thursday.
On Thursday afternoon, in Ożarów Mazowiecki near Warsaw, an away session of the Law and Justice party parliamentary club was held. Among the participants were PM Mateusz Morawiecki and party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński.
After the first and official part of the meeting, Ryszard Terlecki told journalists that PiS chairman spoke about three issues. "Our club will recommend Elżbieta Witek for the Marshal of the Sejm of the IX term, our candidate for the Senate Marshal will be Stanisław Karczewski, and we will back Mateusz Morawiecki as the prime minister," Terlecki told the media.
Asked if any names had been mentioned regarding the composition of the new cabinet, Terlecki denied. "The whole process is ongoing. We need agreement, we must agree with our allies, parties that form the United Right," he stressed.
Terlecki informed at the same time that next week the party leaders would meet, namely the Political Committee Presidium and leaders of the allied parties - United Poland and Agreement. "That's where the decisions regarding the new cabinet will be taken," he said.
The chief of PiS club was also asked if that means that next week the composition of the new government would be announced, and he replied: "well, maybe it's not that urgent, discussion regarding the details will most likely continue". "It's not only about the constitutional ministers, there's also a quite big group of deputy ministers, various functions, so all this is still ahead of us," Terlecki added.
The first official part of the meeting lasted about 90 minutes. PiS spokesperson, Anita Czerwińska, informed that the campaign and election results had been discussed. "There were also words of gratitude for those who had worked in the campaign, for candidates, and also for those who had unfortunately failed win seats," Czerwińska added.
