The Mayor of Jaworze Municipality, located in the Silesian province in Poland, Radosław Ostałkiewicz died during a work trip to Sardinia. The 44-year-old man fell out of a hotel window in Cagliari. Bielsko-Biała Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the mayor's death.
Spokesperson for the Bielsko-Biała Prosecutor's Office Agnieszka Michulec informed on Wednesday about the inquiry being launched into a potential involuntary manslaughter.
The spokesperson added the prosecutors would ask their counterparts from Sardinia for case files.
Mayor Radosław Ostałkiewicz was on a work visit to the Italian island together with other local councillors from Bielsko County.
The fatal accident took place at a hotel in the center of Cagliari at night between Monday and Tuesday. The mayor fell out of a fourth-floor window.
According to the local police, it was an accident - the man was sitting on a windowsill and lost balance.
