A verifying procedure has been launched regarding Marshal Kuchciński's flights - Mirosława Chyr from District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw said on Monday. The investigators are verifying information contained in a written notification regarding suspicion of an offense.
Chyr stressed that the procedure is currently at a "very early stage". The investigators did not inform about the details of the procedure.
At the same time, Chyr underscored that investigation hasn't been launched. Such information was published by rp.pl portal on Wednesday. "I strenuously deny that investigation has been launched," Chyr said.
The prosecutor's office in Warsaw pointed out that the written notification about possible offence was filed by a natural person. According to information provided by the Polish Press Agency (PAP), the said person is not a politician.
In the end of July, Radio Zet informed that the Marshal of the Sejm has been flying together with his family members on official planes. Kuchciński announced that he would donate 15.000 zlotys for charity causes, for the 23 flights he took with his family.
On Monday (August 5) Kuchciński apologized in a statement for flying with his family and informed that on one occasion, his wife flew by herself. The Marshal was convincing that no laws have been broken and declared to make another donation, of 28.000 zlotys, for his wife's flight.
Later on Monday, the Sejm published on its website the list of national official flights taken by the Marshal of the Sejm during current term. The list mentiones 85 flights taken by Kuchciński between 17 March, 2016 and 22 July, 2019. Seventy flights were from Warsaw to Rzeszów (often round trips).
The list published by the Sejm Information Centre (CIS) also contains information regarding the number of local flights, number of passengers on board (without names of functions), and visit purpose.
