Hospital in Szczecinek (West Pomeranian voivodeship) has notified the prosecutor's office about the possibility of abuse of a 13-month-old girl. Doctors have found severe injuries on the child's body suggesting sexual abuse. The girl has been taken to one of the hospitals in Szczecin.
The spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Koszalin informed on Thursday that doctors from Szczecinek hospital had notified the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecinek about the possibility of crime having been committed on a 13-month-old girl. "The child had very serious injuries," said the spokesman.
According to information gathered by Polish Press Agency (PAP) from sources close to the investigation, the girl's injuries suggest possible sexual abuse.
Doctors from the hospital in Szczecinek, where the girl was brought by her parents, decided on Wednesday that to immediately transport the child to a more specialised hospital in Szczecin.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecinek is looking into the case. Expert witness' opinion should be known on Friday. Potential charges would be formulated on its basis.
