Seven people have heard charges regarding the organisation of the Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in 2019, during which Gda艅sk Mayor Pawe艂 Adamowicz was fatally stabbed. The investigators accuse the organisers of negligence and endangering the participants of the event.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Gda艅sk on Tuesday summoned seven people responsible for the organisation and security of the Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christams Charity on January 13, 2019 in Gda艅sk. During this event, Stefan W. attacked Mayor of Gda艅sk Pawe艂 Adamowicz and stabbed him several times with a knife. Adamowicz died the following day of the sustained wounds.
Two investigations have been launched after the tragedy - one into the murder (Stefan W. has been charged), and the other into negligence in the organisation of WO艢P finale in Gda艅sk. The latter has been launched by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Gda艅sk.
On Tuesday, the investigators charged seven people responsible for the organisation of the event: two police officers from the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Gda艅sk, a clerk from the municipal services department at the City Hall in Gda艅sk, two security workers, and two people from the Regional Volunteer Centre.
The clerk and the police officers were charged with putting the participants of the event at risk of death of health loss, as well as of dereliction of duty.
The volunteers and security officers from "Tajfun" agency were only charged with putting the participants at risk of life or health loss.
"The suspects are facing up to 5 years prison" - the spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Gda艅sk Marzena Muklewicz said.
All suspects showed up at the prosecutor's office on Tuesday. They weren't detained, only summoned to hear charges.
