President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the United States is considering a request for a permanent military presence in Poland as well as a visa waiver program for the country.
Polish presidential couple arrived in the White House shortly after 6 p.m. Polish time. In the vicinity of the building a crowd of opponents of the Polish government gathered. They wore shirts saying "Constitution".
Donald and Melania Trump have welcomed President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda in the White House. Next, both couples went to the Oval Office, where the two presidents spoke with the journalists. Donald Trump was asked, among other things, about permanent U.S. military presence in Poland.
"Poland is willing to make a very major contribution to the United States to come in and have a presence in Poland, and certainly it's something we'll discuss," Trump said at the White House before a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
"We're looking at it very seriously, I know Poland likes the idea very much, and it's something that we are considering, yes," he said.
Shortly after, presidents Duda and Trump went to have a one-to-one conversation.
