Police from Lower Silesia (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship) runs a preventive-educational course for priests from Archdiocese of Wrocław. The aim of the training is to improve safety of senior citizens and people living alone, as they are the most common victims of scams.
As the police informs, an agreement between the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław and Archdiocese of that city was signed back in September 2020, but the course could not be launched due to the pandemic. This year the training was carried out with no obstacles.
"The concept assumes launching a joint action by the police and archdiocese aimed at improving safety of senior citizens and people living alone. Seniors are the most targeted group by scammers, as well as the most vulnerable to criminal groups, and therefore they require special social policy," said Aleksandra Pieprzycka from Lower Silesian Police press office.
The course took place at a training centre for priests in Sulistrowiczki and was conducted by officers of the Field Operations Unit in Wrocław.
Three main topics were discussed during the session: "police officer" and "grandson" scam schemes, as well as home violence against the seniors and safety of clergymen.
The training was attended by priests from parishes all across the Lower Silesian province, subordinate to Wrocław Archdiocese.
